Super Awesome Facts

Becuase you don’t get enough facts thrown at you in school,

I decided to give you some more.

FACT:

(from The Disappearing Spoon)
“A Russian-Canadian team pulled an even neater trick with pure helium. When cooled down to – 456 degrees Farenheit, helium turned into a super fluid, with exactly zero viscosity and zero resistance to flow- perfect fluidness. Superfluid helium defies gravity and flows uphill and over walls.”

Opinion:
Helium is cool.

FACT:

(from His Excellency)
“The soldiers were known to chant the singsongy tune ‘War and Washington’ so endlessly that visiting civilians complained of mental paralysis.”

Opinion:
Haha, that’s funny.

FACT: Planet Money came out with an episode about spies.

“On this episode we learn how to think like a spy, how to spot danger like a spy and how to drive like a spy, or at least park like a spy at the grocery store.”

Generalization:
Everybody has dreamed of being a spy at one point.
FACT:
I have dreamed of being a spy.
Being a spy is something I will always fantasize about, but in reality, I would be awful at it. I’d be too on edge all the time. Or I would do the opposite and laugh constantly. Also, I wouldn’t have time to read. I’d be too busy decoding messages and chasing cars and sneaking around. Maybe one day I’ll fulfill my dreams by getting a trench coat. Or a BRIEFCASE!

Opinion:
Memes exist because being relatable exists. It’s also why videos like Honest Airline Commercial have over eight million views. (Actually, that’s wrong. It has so many views because it was made by Ryan Higa, who is the most creative person ever.) Being relatable exists because it makes a person feel heard and understood and good inside. But when person A is going through a hard time, A doesn’t always have a friend B who is able to say (truthfully) that person A is not alone. That B understands what A is going through.

Which is why it’s a good thing we have Jesus.

Truth. Jesus get us.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are- yet he did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)

This verse is confusing with its double negatives, but it’s SO BEAUTIFUL. It says that Jesus knows that life is hard. But not only does Jesus know that in his brain because he knows everything, he also knows that in his HEART. He understands because he went through it too.

When I’m stressed out because I have three tests and a quiz on one day, JESUS GETS IT. Because he was so anxious about dying on the cross that he sweated blood.
When I feel betrayed by people I trust, JESUS GETS IT.
Peter abandoned him when Jesus needed him most.

“Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: ‘Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” (Luke 22:61) (Bolding mine.)

DUDE, the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE GETS ME.

P.S.

FACT: I reached a hundred subscribers. Truth: That’s crazy. AMAZING. I told myself that if I made it to this milestone and didn’t let the busyness of school destroy my blogging, I would drop the wordpress off the domain. Which I did, along with changing my website’s name from Uniquely Magic to Zoelogist. The inspiration for the first name came from Stephen King’s quote, “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Zoelogist came about because of my AWESOME speaker from summer camp. He talked about “xaralogy.” “Xara” means joy in Greek and “-logy” is the study of, so “xaralogy” is the study of joy. I thought this was a brilliant idea. “Zoe” is the word for life. Specifically, in terms of the Bible, eternal life. Zoelogist: a student of eternal life. Okay, coming up with this was not the easiest thing I’ve done. There’s SO MANY options out there. What’s the story behind your blog name?
